Ron Wilson Journey
What up World,
My name is Ronald Wilson, and this is the start of my journey. I would first like to start by giving an introduction of who I am and what brings me to the BLOG world. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago. I was the only child for the first 5 and a half years of my life until my sister was born in 1989. My sister and I have different fathers but we were raised by my mother. We lived primarily on the west side of Chicago, until my mother decided to move to the north side of Chicago with her boyfriend. The journey starts now but my childhood plays a big part in who I am today. I was not a terrible child growing up but of course I could have been a lot better in my decision making. I say this because I have seen and had experiences of children making great decisions in life regardless of their circumstances.
Life was hard growing up in the inner city of a huge city like Chicago, but hey that's typical for African Americans in the 90's. There wasn’t great guidance from my parents but there was always my aunt and grandmother who were greatly influential in my sisters and I life. I was a pretty good student in elementary school or as we refer to it in my environment of growing up “grammar school”. I graduated on time without any hitches really. High School was an entire different story. You are accountable for your future when you walk in that building every day and to say the least, it was overwhelming for me to handle. I was dealing with my mother’s addiction which affected living arrangements, food, security, and just the everyday things people take for granted. I also was a big brother which at the time I didn’t know how much of a role I played in her life. I did not graduate high school on time and the only reason I did graduate was due to me signing up for the Navy. Joining the military requires a high school diploma and they helped me attain just that. I was a year behind schedule but I was able to graduate. Once graduation was done then comes all the big decision making as an “adult”. I was a somewhat terrible decision maker in the early years of my adulthood but who isn’t for that time of life.
I am now 32 years of age and a father. I say that to show my terrible decision making in my early adult years but I love my children none the less. I am currently in the IT field and I love it but of course my Journey will not end here, in fact it is just getting started. I am just someone who wants to make a difference in any way I can. This blog is result of my passion that was discovered at the age of 30, and that’s to positively impact others with my want for all to be great in their own right. There will be many different topics discussed in this blog and I am excited for you to read them all. I welcome you all and hope to inspire someone.
Best Regards,
Ron.
